Segundo a polícia de San Miguel, onde o acidente aconteceu, Costas John Sivyllis, 30, e Lindsey Vogelaar, 33, haviam decolado cerca de 15 minutos antes da queda. Eles estavam indo para a Flórida quando a aeronave caiu.

A aeronave pertencia ao piloto, que, assim como sua esposa, trabalhava para a United Airlines. A polícia disse ainda que o Conselho Nacional de Segurança nos Transportes dos Estados Unidos está investigando o caso.
